Snowflake Series (video thumbnails)
odonata media — Sun, 10/26/2008 - 10:43pm
Stills from experimental video work on windowexchange.org. Snowflake Series is a group of music/video makers with an emphasis on nature and abstraction. Our "micro-films" average 1 minute in length and represent a thoughtful alternative to the daily bombardment of media images and sound.
Most of my videos are set in Northern New Mexico.

Three Patterned Dog
The denim boys push flat carts
over junkyard cement,
collect machine fragments.
Fat girl echo runs,
two fingers parallel to my nose.
"Moreno, you still got that scrawny bitch?"
His breath rolls morning nasal,
sprays staccato across half-rolled window.
"Hey she's more loyal than a wife."
She laughs,
trims our cold bed with armadillo
slats of amalgamated metal.
She calls me Lupe,

Inner Cartography: Works by Alex Ellis September 13 - October 9
deMare Fine Art — Tue, 09/16/2008 - 3:52pm
Inner Cartography, works by Alex Ellis at deMare Fine Art, 1206 National Avenue, Las Vegas, NM 87701.
These abstract new works represent a turning point in Ellis’ maturity as an artist. For the past 6 years, Ellis has worked in encaustic, an ancient medium and technique utilizing beeswax and tree resin as vehicle for the pigments. The oldest surviving examples of encaustic are over 2000 years old, and the method was used by the Greeks and Romans.
Ellis showed on Vashon Island in the Seattle area before moving to New Mexico 1 ½ years ago. This is his first show in New Mexico.
